I dread to think where some of the money came from that bought my food when I was little. Here's three sources- mostly based on experience or tales from mum before she died: Theft. Gambling. Proceeds from illegal boxing matches that took place in our house.

Do I feel bad about it? No way. I loved my parents- even though they often strayed on the other side of the law (in my dad's case, lived there for long periods).

Because we have absolutely no say in where we are born and how we are raised, it doesn't seem an issue in life, until we are old enough to look back with a pinch of objectivity.

Navi was a lovely little girl when I knew her and I'm glad she's doing well. I also liked her mum and dad, who were always friendly, polite and hospitable when I visited.

I'm sure Navi is aware of the background to her unusual childhood. She's quite intelligent enough to understand what was going on at the time. Plus she has her mum, dad, cousins and friends to talk to.
