Dear Mahatma Babaluji,
As I hope you are already aware, you are a most valued contributor to this forum. Let me assure you that our failing to address you by your forum handle was not in any way meant as patronising. In the future we will respect your wishes and will not address you by your real name.
Furthermore, your contention that we have at any time in the past misrepresented an intentional deletion by claiming that it was a mistake is patently not true. On most occasions it was simply the human error of one of the mods. If you reread the pertinent post you will see that this was the stated reason for the last unintentional mass deletion. At no point was this blamed on a "glitch in the software" as you seem to claim.
You of all posters here should be aware of the difficulties of moderating a forum. Decisions must be made and few if any will please everyone. We are simply trying our best to provide a space for discussions about Rawat in a way which is fair and for which we can stand by. This includes our own policy of as little deletions as is possible. We are also juggling this volunteer activity with our busy private lives.
The reason why this forum is not inundated with premie troll posts is not from a lack of effort on their part. Much of the work maintaining this forum is invisible and goes unnoticed. We ask that regular posters here don't make our job harder and to bear in mind that we are all motivated by the same basic intentions.
Just for the record, and so that everyone knows exactly why a moderator deleted the post from New Orleans Premie, here is what was sent via private message. The deletion of that post was made after considerable reflection and frankly anguish.
"I am very sorry to have deleted a post you clearly put a lot of effort into. I know you will not like it but I hope you will understand why. Except for the fact that Katrina was a natural disaster the stuff that is happening in New Orleans is far far worse than 9/11. It is perfectly conceivable that people reading F8 may have family or friends caught up in Katrina and - even worse - may have lost family or friends. Such a post, if it had been posted immediatly after 9/11, would also have been deleted. We do not want to run the risk that f8 and its regular posters are in any way seen as taking advantage of the disaster - as indeed TPRF now seems to be doing. There might have been a way to use some of the content as a Mahatma Babaluji post though I am not quite sure how at the moment. You are the creative one! Mod"
Yours faithfully,
The F8 forum administrator
