“but I think it's effectiveness at helping premies who are looking for another side of the story is not helped by the number of postings that just assume the worst to be the truth.”
I noticed 13's comment as well , Paddy....and I understood the point he/she was making which of course has been made before by different people in various ways on this forum.........however 13 did eventually politely concede ( having made this comment in a previous post ) that in fact Babaluji's analysis was correct and that " the worst", regarding giving funds to the Hurricane/Rawat's Mission , could indeed be "the truth" . Unfortunately it is becoming more and more clear to me that "the worst" was often "the truth" in Rawatsworld ; sometimes when it most seemed not to be .As I "ex-ed" just over a year ago ( it seems far longer) I was blind to the fraud happening right under my nose for over 30 years .I am absolutely sure that for many who are still premies the story is the same . Strangely, it was partly an "on line" registration form which led me to EPO.I was trying to register for the Brighton Programme in 2002.A premie friend and her very sick, wheelchair bound hubbie (also a premie)had asked me to register for them. However , as they survived on benefits (welfare ) they were unable to pay . I was able to cover the (considerable) cost for myself but not all three of us......I was really shocked to see that I could ONLY register three people if I paid for three people so of course I had to ( credit card) as I would have been very embarrassed to tell my friends that they weren't registered and why . It shocked me because in " the good old days" premies could get in free of charge if they were unable to pay but there was no facility for this on the registration site.Anyhow, after registering and paying ( in an internet cafe as I wasn't on-line at home) I searched for the EPO site ( that a premie had advised me not to read because it was "nasty" , which is how I heard of it ) and found it. It was the many little things like the story above that did it for me ........I just couldn't ignore the "smell" any longer. The trinkets that were sold in the programme foyers got uglier and uglier , and more and more blatantly " touristic". The music CDs that once were so "blissful" now sounded like the kind of thing you expect in a non- hip store. The high vibe had gone. I fear , Paddy, that the "worst" was the "truth" even when everything appeared to be at it's best ......and it's somehow this that makes the Rawat/knowledge trick so subtle and effective.
