Dear Empathy: I was only an ashram resident for six months, and in the mid-Seventies, at that, when ashram residency was hardly the divine avocation - sorry, occupation - it seemed to be earlier. Nevertheless, and since you raise the "hypocrisy" issue: most of us devoted premies assumed that our master did not get drunk and stoned. Extramarital affairs would have been more understandable. Not because of Durga Ji (a sexy consort!), but because one would assume someone in command of Perect Happiness would not have to resort to cannibas and cognac to get high. That is not hypocricy; it is common sense, as much as it is possible for cultists to have access to common sense.
