STARTER KIT
Presenting Maharaji’s message
at Concerts and Clubs
Promotion
- Posters everywhere promoting the event, including in the venue itself.
- Hand out Flyers (A5 versions of the poster)
- If you have connections with the local radio station, TV and also the local newspaper, place an advert.
- Use the video clip to promote via email (see sample on coolchill.org site)
Set-up
- The set-up of the event itself involved:
- Usually the venue will have professional AV or Get pwk who is experienced in AV to instruct them on the hall set up
- Standard PA equipment
- Laptop and a projector to show the translated slides and DVDs
- Plenty of rehearsals - technical and performances!!!
Agenda
- Generally, the agenda should have variety and nice paced. Definitely not slow.
Sample agenda that was used in Spain:
- Two MCs introducing and telling them why they have put on the ”Peace concert” Acts can be split up into 2s and 3s, interjected by a clown for humor.
- Acts can vary - a hip-hop group, a salsa couple, advanced ballerinas, a ballerina group, a tango and salsa act and background dancing behind the singers, a heavy metal group (one of the songs had a slideshow of 'no-war' images from war-torn countries and Mother Teresa (media images), a female and a male singer who sang in solo performances and a duet
- Songs specifically chosen to relate to Maharaji’s presentation but were commercial, i.e. 'I believe I can fly' and included translation on PowerPoint and modern dancing.
- Halfway through the concert, the MCs talked a little bit about Maharaji and his work and showed the 'Courtesy of Life' DVD.
· At the very end, 'Who you are' was shown. This is the track from the 'Who you are' CD with images and translation in Spanish.
Materials/Handout:
- At the end of the concert, a table with various VCDs given a way,
'Peace is possible'
'Courtesy of life' and
- If the person wanted to know more, they were given further information, i.e. the satellite time and channel.
