The copyright for the pictures would belong to the photographer unless they were working directly for EV as a staff photographer, in which case EV would have the copyright. In the former case the photographer could simply give EV (or Rawat) full usage rights without asking for compensation as part of the "volunteer" tradition of EV.

Regardless of that, Rawat, as the subject being photographed, would have some kind of contractual agreement with EV giving his permission that the photos be published and sold. Under normal circumstances he would certainly be compensated for that, typically he would get some payment for each individual commercial use of the photo. In that sense he would be getting compensation from EV. Of course he could decline compensation, though I agree that this is doubtful knowing our Malibu Prem the way we do. Normally celebrities and models have publicity photos which they make available for free but otherwise receive money for pictures of them that are actually sold.

When I was a premie, I would have wanted to give the usage rights directly to Rawat and not to EV. The Premie could also have been working directly for Rawat as a staff photographer (for free no doubt) in which case the copyright would indeed belong to Prem.
