So lets see, I guess I must have been around 16 or 17, still an aspirant. One day I was leaving the house to go to Satsang and just as a fluke asked my mom if she wanted to come. She said okay and off we went. After Satsang she really gave the premies a hard time asking all kinds of sceptical questions. The next day she says in a serious tone, "Daniel, I want to talk to you!" So I'm thinking here it comes, she is going to tell me this is some kind of lousy cult and if I keep going she is going to do something ominous. I can't imagine what, maybe take away my hash pipe or something. Anyway she starts going on an on and basically telling me that she was filled with some kind of amazing energy after Satsang and that she hadn't slept all night.

After that we went to Satsang together just about every night, which actually was strange because before that we hadn't been spending much time with each other. We did the whole aspirant thing together and even received Knowledge with the same initiator, Elliot Brye or however you spell her name. We were quite a hit the two of us. Especially my mom though because she was very beautiful and all the ashram boys fell for her (or at least the ones that weren't you know...)

She didn't last all that long though, maybe about a year or so. I've talked with her about it in later years. I don't think she ever felt much for Malibu Prem. The way she described is that she was going through a really hard time in her life, because she was getting divorced from my father. All the energy and attention she received got her back on her feet again. Then she moved to Florida and shortly thereafter married a guy 11 years younger than her. (Ashram boys eat your heart out.) She also said that at some point the whole con became clear to her, but she still liked meditating once in a while. I think she still does to this day.

When I told her about EPO her response was that although she hadn't been aware of all the gory details, it didn't surprise her and she suspected as much.

So there you have it, absolute scientific proof that gullibility is inheritable. The person who really suffered through this was my younger sister who got really freaked out when we both started going to satsang. She wouldn't hear anything of it though, which is absolute scientific proof that gullibility is a state of mind. I can't imagine that my mother would have gotten involved at any other stage in her life. She was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and was susceptible at that moment. But she also says that although she knows it was a con, it helped her immensely and she doesn't have any hard feelings.

Maybe I'll try to get her to post here. That would be funny!

Hey, it's my birthday in one hour!
