Hi Tempora,

As I was a married man with children when I arrived at "Satsang" in late 1973 there was no pressure to join the ashram (in Australia). My view is that most of the premies were counter-cultural "seekers after truth" alright but not ones with much experience. There were already large numbers of people involved in the earlier "seekers" groups but very few of these found DLM attractive. They considered the premies immature and the techniques low grade. This may have been because they were "in their mind" or because they were were more experienced and sensible.

Up until 1976 there was no deception as far as I can tell. Premies made the most outrageous claims about young Rawat publicly and loudly though they certainly exaggerated their "experience" but that is not unusual. Young Rawat can hardly be blamed in those days as he was an ignorant kid mouthing what he'd been taught to believe.
