Glen is someone I always liked, but it is not acceptable for him to blame the fact that most premies in the 70's, 80's (and in my experience into the 90's and beyond) imbued maharaji with the qualities of the incarnation of God on the so-called "sari brigade" - and, of course, he knows that perfectly well.
Just to illustrate this, Glen often told the tale of when maharaji heard through his grapevine that Glen had suggested that Marolyn was nothing particularly special, but a mere devotee like the rest of us. Glen received a personal rebuke from maharaji that he had dared to insinuate such a thing and question her (and by association) his own divinity.
Even if we allow for the possibility that Glen himself had difficulties with premies who made claims of godhead for maharaji (even though I clearly remember him addressing a large gathering of premies in November 1971 the evening before m arrived at Heathrow airport and telling us: "If any press reporters ask you what is happening, tell them straight that the Lord of the Universe is arriving in the UK" ) , the source of such claims came directly from the guru and were both openly and by constant insinuation maintained by him over decades.
