I didn't know Joan well, but spent some time with her in Miami. She used to come over to the brothers' ashram in Coral Gables to swim in our pool at night. We used to talk some and I thought she was funny.
But make no mistake. Her whole purpose in life was Maharaji, although Joan always was sure she got the things Joan wanted. She took care of herself as well. She was nutty, but the thing endearing about her was that she would have been the first to admit that. She was self-deprecating.
I'm sure Joan is misty-eyed and nostalgic for her sadu/fanatic premie days, which are long gone. I think that's what she gets teary-eyed about.
I wish her well with er Aromatherapy practice. I do notice that on her resume, she continues to say she was an educator for "Elvan Vital" which is an educational organization. Well, not really, Joan. You were an initiator for Elan Vital, which is the front organization for a personality cult, of which Joan still is, apprently still a part.
