I don't know why there is such a level of disagreement. Stating the "bleeding obvious" produces boredom not disagreement.

I completely agree with your statements re the middle class background of most of the 70's premies and the reasons they were able to rebuild 'material lives'. I would not even have bothered with this if some ex-premies did not paint a far too grim picture of present premie lives and others attacked me for pointing out the "bleeding obvious" that they were wrong.

Australia is country where the working and middle classes are not necessarily separate entities. I am well aware that there are other people who do not get mentioned in my count. I am not trying to make a statement about all premies, I am providing evidence that happy and successful premies exist and that there seems to be a pretty large percentage of them around here.
