Being part of the chosen few also can make you feel good. The downside of that, however, which is what bothered me as a premie, is how it separated me from people who didn't have knowledge. I felt I was different from them in a fundamental way, and they were limited in some fundamental way. Everytime I saw non-premies be a lot more well-adjusted and "peaceful" than most of the premies I knew, it was confronting. |
