I remember Tandon well, and spent some time with him in 1970 with Bal Bhagwan (Satpal).

He was highly educated, and once we had a big argument, with Satpal egging us on, about whether one should say 'orientate' or 'orient' as a verb. I forgot who won (or even which side I took) but I was surprised how educated and sharp he was.

It was no surprise to me, though, that when the family split he went with Satpal - he considered himself the intellectual keeper of Divine Light Mission, and at least Satpal valued that, while Maharaji just seemed to ignore him and his educated stance.
