Watching the videos of Cohen talking with various other pompous windbags, seeing them all dance around each other, carefully jockying for position but ever careful to not step on each others' toes, my long-held belief is only confirmed: spirituality is one of the funniest things humanity's ever come up with and these guys who try to lead the pack are nothing but big fat clowns.
There's a tv series in this. I would give my eye tooth to play the Andrew Cohen-type western, Jewish guy who does the Indian gurus one better and becomes one himself. And then to actually get his mother over to India where she's rolling her eyes for a few years .... Maybe Andrea Martin would be up for the role.
Seriously, this is so funny. Tell me, honestly, guys, do you think this would sell in Hollywood? You will when you've watched the videos.
On a more serious note, though, I feel really, really sorry for people who get stung by a guru like this and still believe in the whole enlightenment illusion. Like the author of the book about Cohen. Poor tenacious, idealistic fool ... what's it gonna take, fella?
