There was a small faction of Malibu-type premies at DECA that were ashram women who, as far as I know, had no means of buying their very expensive wardrobes, make-up, perfume, jewelry, etc. on the ten bucks a week we got from the Broadripple ashram allowance. Fashion plates -- at least in their own eyes. They had been ashram premies in California, too, so unless they had secret stashes of money or got special privileges, I have no idea how they did it.
Then there were us more common DECA premies who walked around in bare-threaded clothing all of the time, even though we "did service side-by-side" every day of the week.
