His constituency in the beginning was amongst those young people who'd gone to India for whatever reason, so it's not surprising he'd seek to cash in on the present generation who continue to do so. 25 yrs ago Pushkar, a picturesque town built around an oasis with a large clean lake,& whose prosperity depended on camel trading on a vast scale, was a big secret amongst the handful of intrepid 'Asian Travellers' who'd been there. No way would they tell any but the select few that the place existed, for fear of it becoming ruined by 'tourists'. What hubris. No doubt Rawat's property developers are scoping out the potential. The other town which was mentioned is Manali. This is a place where just about the strongest hashish known to man is made,& where some English premies set up home 30 yrs ago. Whether they are still there & functioning is anyone's guess. The days of the amateur low profile smuggler seem to be over. It must be hard if you retired to Arcadia in your twenties, to find it's become borderline AK47 territory when you're in your fifties. On top of that there's someone on that website wanting westerners living in India to make themselves known. I'M HOME BOYS. |
