I did not get to make it to the wedding but heard stories from premies who were allowed to return to the reception only to be made to wait outside and hope for an occasional wave from the royal couple.

I think the above information is misleading.  I made it to the wedding and reception, got completely smashed on champagne, did a drunk pranam and went back to the monestary.  No problem.
