No, I don't have a degree in any science, but have ones in other subjects.

My conclusions as to what scientists believe is based upon reading, and conversations with scientists who I know.

In any case, the empirical method used by science is only capable of determining how things occur. The why is very often totally outside its limitations.

'Jim's numbers, as a matter of FACT, are a bit conservative.....'

I'm not at all sure how you could justify such a statement. I would be interested to know. But I would be happy just to differ with you on this.
