I thought it was fun right from the start - just the idea of it, a Catholic priest talking about sex.  Then I realised he was excusing the problems their church has had lately by saying everybody has them.  actually that's fair enough, but on the other hand when the manager is trying to grope you in the store room you aren't under any illusion he's God's right hand man.  

but then it got interesting.  He really was addressing the subject.  And now I was being entertained by the recognition I was enjoying what a priest had to say.  He said some things that aren't often said that impressed me with their honesty eg saying that being sexually integrated made a person happy.  that it was as simple as that, and he made this delicious little motion to describe what he meant - the point was made, by a priest no less, it's sex not God that makes you happy or not.

There was a bit when I got a bit annoyed that he was bringing God into the picture it was such a furphy and entirely unnecessary after some good reasoned talk but then the deep seated ex-premie entertainment began.  It's time to put the sex back in God he says.  God is sex he pronounces.  He's just got through saying it is the sacred fire and yet it also has a destructive violent side and is the cause of more murder and suicide than anything else.  Mr Dawkins' point that the notion of the Devil inevitably piggybacks on the notion of God was there to be seen in action.  

tbh, it annoys me they dumped the Devil without dumping God too but I've always thought it was a good thing because believing in God is scary enough without adding the Devil which had people so very frightened.

but yes, if that speech is a sign of things to come the Dark Ages are making a come back - what's not to like, six and a half minutes of pure fun!   

I am making a very big pot at the moment.  When it's finished it will stand about 2 ft high.  and that is preparing the canvas if you like because I will be putting a frieze round it.  already though, it feels alive.
