The origin story of QAnon is really bizarre.

I had looked into this maybe a month back or so. I should have posted that here at the time. (or did I?) I wasn't so interested in the actual beliefs because they are just ridiculous. But I was interested to understand the mechanics and logistics of how the messages were spread and where they came from. When I looked into it, it was much weirder than I expected, but actually I realised I shouldn't have been surprised. So here in a nutshell:

1. The original QAnon poster started on that strange internet forum called 4chan. At the time there was a whole genre of posters with handles like FBIAnon, CIAAnon, etc. So QAnon didn't stand out and probably the posters and readers there didn't take any of it seriously. But then along the way certain people started promoting and amplifying QAnon.

2. Then 4chan imploded and people started moving to 8chan. Now 8chan was started by a very freaky incel guy who has the real-life affliction of brittle bones like in the movie Unbreakable. His forum began to explode and get super nasty. He started getting disgusted by it and also started having his own internal transformation to a more healthy mindset.

3. At some point he ended up selling it to some other weird and mysterious character who lived in the Philippines. So he sells it to this guy and as part of the deal moves to the Philippines to basically run it for its new owner or something like that. As he continues to get disgusted by it, he tries to convince the new owner to shut it down. But now it has become his big cash cow, so this isn't going to happen.

4. The new owner has essentially been running porn sites for decades and it even seems like he had child porn websites, though he denies that. He certainly has dodgy URLs registered by his company, so it seems likely.

5. At some point the style of the QAnon poster's writing style changes and it seems like this new owner or his son are at the very least controlling the new version of Q if not writing the posts themselves. They are also apparently making lots of money from it.

6. The original brittle bones guy is now trying to unmask the whole operation and the identity of Q.

7. So it looks like we have a guy who made his living from porn and maybe even child porn spreading and perhaps even creating a mythology about evil child sex traffickers -- for the power and money he gets out of it.

The whole thing is so outlandish but then weirdly just makes perfect sense. It would be second nature for someone in the child porn business to then create a story demonising it for his own advantage.

I don't have the original links, but I guess it doesn't take to much googling around to find them.
