If this is correct, then climate change is sorted. Who cares what temperature it'll be if there's no-one around to appreciate it? Imagine it's true. We'd be near the last generation of humans. One two or three left before humans are wiped out.
Then you have to wonder, what matters? And mulling over this, I am surprised how much my values are predicated on the ongoing survival of the human race. If we're in a sinking liferaft, no ambitions are worth a thing. All we'd have is perhaps the notion of trying to be kind to each other. What else can you do? What else would matter?
