I used to teach coding myself at Exeter uni, so I totally understand that 15000 lines of code in one file is an appalling almost unreadable mess. And no testing... I wrote a little program to automate irrigation in my greenhouse and garden. Even that had some testing built in. It's not hard, goes a long way to prevent bugs and clarifies your thinking. If you write a bit of code that you can't think of a way to test it, you probably need to rethink the code.

But still, there must be some good epidemiologists out there. They just picked the wrong one there.

It doesn't sound good for Imperial either, which has been a go to source for the scientific view on the plague.
