You say that you're not a leftist and you take offence at the suggestion that you think like one but here you are committing the classic leftist dodge -- arbitrarily disregarding evidence because of ad hominem prejudice. Had you bothered to read the article you'd have noticed that it links to and comments upon another from Sky news: https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-woman-named-and-shamed-by-neighbours-on-facebook-for-not-joining-clap-for-carers-11978192 and a parents forum: https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3888389-To-think-I-shouldnt-be-named-and-shamed-for-not-clapping?pg=1 and another Breitbart article (yes, I know, Orange Font Bad): https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/04/12/inform-on-your-neighbours-ni-police-launch-lockdown-reporting-site/ which, in turn, linked to an Evening Standard one: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/northern-ireland-police-launch-covid19-online-reporting-tool-a4412161.html with more links of its own but you get the idea. If you want to ignore evidence these days, and you're on the left, you just do what you did. It's as if it didn't exist, right? Plus you get to gratuitously slam the messenger. Now, think about it. If you were honest about this, you'd look it all through and be forced to admit that, while you might think Breitbart generally appalling, as I'm sure you do, just because you've learned that you're supposed to think that way, on this occasion at least, you were wrong, it wasn't. Of course that won't happen. But it should. |
