In the vein of let them eat cake and die, we have Congress (not sure if I can blame Trump or the Republicans on this, but I bet I could) not re-authorizing on September 30, 2017 the CHIP's funding.

This is for children of the poor who need it or they might die.  One would think that if Mr. Donald Trump gave a real crap about the middle class and the lower class that he would move this along.  But, wait.  Maybe Donald is powerless and can't move Congress to do anything.  After all, he has not passed one of his major campaign promises yet as a bill.  And let's hope that the Tax Reform bill does not get through because all that does is give millionaires and billionaires more tax breaks and clobbers the working class by eliminating a lot of the deductions that they use.  Of course, corporations would be dropped down to a 20% tax rate from 35%.
Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), a federal health insurance program that provides inexpensive coverage to nearly 9 million children in low-income families.

CHIP has enjoyed bipartisan support since its inception in 1997, but this year, legislators let the deadline for reauthorizing it pass as they bickered over other health care issues, primarily the latest Republican-led push to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
