God, that's awful.  I know there's been concerns about over-fishing for most of our lives but to collapse like that!  Usually you think fish kill - something in the water has done it.  Or the factory boats have been through. But yes water temperature rise.  I hope the fish are back next year.

Orange Roughy is a prized fish over here.  But fish stocks in general have declined.  My neighbour went fishing yesterday and I asked how did they go no nothing.  well nothing turned out be snapper, parrot fish, and a couple of others (I zoned out after snapper as that is my favourite fish) around 30 fish in total, but none of them were big ones, he said and that is a worry.

One of the things that makes me want to move to Tasmania is the clean waters and good fishing tho I don't suppose it will last over there either, but for now it is still a great place for all sorts of good food.  I went looking on the internet yesterday and I couldn't believe my eyes, 385 acres, forest and paddock easterly slopes of Mt Elephant - 400mtrs above sea level, fantastic sea view, nice old farmhouse, stone outhouse frost free orchard.  okay so gravel road in.  And some of it is sclerophyll forest which burns - surrounded on three sides by state forests.  But magical, an English country garden complete with box hedges perched in a sunny spot up a mountain looking out over the ocean with the mighty rainforest beneath it.

yup, that's my cunning plan, find a quiet out of the way spot - the ostrich solution seems pretty sensible to me I don't worry too much about N Korea but I am glad I am not a fish living in the ocean where he is dropping the bombs.
