I was on South Beach when I saw the tabloid headline that John Lennon had been killed. Proceeded to Miami Beach Convention Center grateful that I had the K of all K's.
I was at that dinner party in the convention center. It was a birthday celebration for Rawat. I was living in the Gainesville Florida ashram, having been shipped there after I got sick at DECA, where I had been working for a year. I was sick and miserable at the time.
As for John Lennon's death, I didn't hear anything about it until a week or so after his murder. I was working at an insurance agency part time. I happened to look down at the receptionist's desk and saw a Time magazine cover of John Lennon. I couldn't believe it. Nobody in the ashram had said anything about John Lennon's death!
I have (had) a friend from the DECA days also an ashram member. He lived w/ me in the late 80's and was still paying down ashram debt that he felt he was responsible for from those days....So glad, I liked women or I would have joined up....David Smith and Randy Prouty tried to sign me up to the program.
