This document exemplifies the relentlessly upbeat theme of all of Maharaji's Elan Vital publications. All EV publications were written for internal use, there were no outside people interested and they would not have been able to access the documents if there were. They were circulated only amongst organised communities of Maharaji's devotees, People With Knowledge (pwKs). It also demonstrates a key type of Elan Vital's internal propaganda. Unfortunately for Maharaji not all pwKs were particularly dedicated and prepared to do service. Therefore stories about the wonderful enjoyment felt by those dedicated pwKs working for Maharaji while doing service were commonplace though this document is the largest one I've ever seen. Many of the parables or fables in this document stress the joy of overcoming doubts when one is doing such service for the first time.

For more than 20 years starting in the late 1980s there was continual propaganda about the growth of Maharaji's message, how many more people were now able to hear or read or view Maharaji speaking. There were regular stories, like these, about how many new guests came to an 'event,' how there are x times as many aspirants this year than last, how Maharaji has flown more miles and made more speeches to many more people (though the premies really knew they were the same pool of people going to these speeches) but what they never said were things like "2,000 new people have been taught the techniques of Knowledge in Paris after a 6 month period of aspirant involvement" or "500 new pwKs celebrate in Geneva after going within for the first time" or "the number of pwKs in Australia have doubled this year after 750 people were revealed Knowledge in Amaroo in September during Maharaji's visit" or "10,000 pwKs join Maharaji in London and hold a parade carrying signs about Self-Knowledge through the streets being cheered by interested onlookers."

Preston - UK 19 introductions
Event - "Quaker style"

Regular weekly Hindi video events in Preston, (NW-UK) have been held since 1993 at the Quaker's or Friend's Meeting House. Last Sunday, the venue management met with the various groups who hire their venue (Christian denominations, Muslims, Jews, Polish church, Quakers, Sikhs and us) to find out more about each other and the local community. They invited us along with other groups, to speak about our perspective. We told them we do not belong to any religion and are totally neutral in every way, but they insisted and each spokesperson gave a 15 min presentation. Instead, we proposed to show a short 14 minute video. They agreed.

We showed "Fullfilment". Here they were talking about differences, while Maharaji on the video spoke about inner contentment and similarity. Everyone was stunned by this message and loved the presentation. After the meeting a couple of ladies from other groups came and expressed their appreciation for showing that video. We were about 23-24 people in total and about 19 were people from Quakers and various other religious groups.

How beautifully this opportunity came about. I gave the Chairperson a couple of introductory audio cassettes, Possibility brochure and some information on how people can get in touch. I hope this fire spreads more and more.

City Centre Open Door Event on busy Saturday

Between 12noon and 6pm, 219 people walked into Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre - of these, 105 were introduced to Maharaji and his message; 22 of them borrowed videos from the library; 26 asked about future events and 7 borrowed audios. Most of them watched videos. There were videos of Maharaji speaking in English and Hindi happening at the same time continuously throughout the day. Being the first Open Day for Leicester no one had any idea how the day would go, but once the hall was transformed it became a joy filled retreat.

It was an introduction to Maharaji via pictures and text (in English, Gujarati and Hindi), followed by videos if they wanted, and at any time there was opportunity to speak to a team of volunteers if they wanted to know more. One elderly person with knowledge was observed bringing in different people throughout the day. Proper-gation! There is a lot to learn and plenty of fine-tuning to do for future events but it was a day that went so much better than expected in so many ways. The team in Leicester came together and had a great day remembering how fortunate they are and what wonderful master they have.

City Centre Open Door Event
on a busy Saturday

We booked 3 rooms in this City Centre venue where a lot of people pass on a Saturday. In one room we had introductory videos continuously playing. In another room we had an introductory display (one board from last weeks' Hindi event with materials in English, Gujerati and Hindi), publications for sale, Discover for Yourself materials, a video library and 4 computers where people could explore the tprf website. In the third room we set up a cafeteria with another display, tprf booklets and invitation cards to our next introductory events. In the foyer was a display board, directing people to the various rooms.

The idea was that people could come in and browse for as long as they wanted. We were open to the public from 10.00 to 4.15pm. In all, 124 people visited. Of those, 51 were completely new to Maharaji's message, and 23 of them watched the videos, some only watched for a few minutes while others stayed for several hours. 12 people were introduced to the tprf website on the computers and approximately 20 of the booklets were given to interested people, and other materials were borrowed and sold.

The whole event felt very good. A lot of effort had been put in by a lot of people and it was exciting to see people obviously touched and inspired by Maharaji's message. It was the first time for many years that an event had been directly open to the public (who were not already in touch with a person with Self-

Knowledge or aspirant), and it was very heartening to think that, with the "Golden Mile" event last week and this event, over 150 new people in Leicester had heard Maharaji's message in one week. Obviously, this was just a first step and there is plenty of room for improvement. Promotion is a major issue and needs to be looked at carefully. It was felt the flyers and posters needed to be done more professionally and be larger and more eye-catching. Also displays needed refinement, in particular using larger print and pictures and including more information, especially on how to follow-up.

This event was supported by people from all over the Midlands, including Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Nottingham, Rugby and the West Midlands and it is hoped that, in time, we will be able to do similar events in various Midlands cities, building on the experience of these events in Leicester.

Portugal 30 introductions
Introductions at a guest house

Ola everybody - We would like to share our experience in the realm of propagation. We live in a remote place in southwest cost of Portugal where we run a Guest House. It is an old farmhouse in a beautiful valley surrounded by unspoiled, peaceful nature, surrounded by cork trees and cuckoos.

Our guests come in search for something different, a quiet weekend. With such people it is natural to share Self Knowledge. Over a year we introduced the possibility to about 30 people, amongst those 10 became aspirants. The atmosphere of this house calls for an intimacy between us and them. Usually the conversations at dinner table, that we all share, flow to the theme of life, and what better than Knowledge to support a step forward that can open a new and fresh possibility? The day after, we invite those who showed interest to watch a video in our private living room and give information and materials about Maharaji and local events in their home cities - we also post videos to them, keeping in touch. To others, we give a little card with Maharaji's websites and some printed materials.

This work also gave us the confidence to start contacting our friends and acquaintances. According to what we know about them we choose texts from the library in the TPRF site and send these by mail.

near Tel Aviv - Israel 50 guests Event in prestigious fitness club, Holmes Place - by new person with Knowledge and Aspirant

This event was initiated, organised and run by a person who has recently received Self-Knowledge together with an aspirant who both work in a fancy fitness club, "Holmes Place". They approached the management to do introductory events for club members. 70 people came, 20 were people with knowledge and aspirants, the rest were guests (50). We showed 2 videos ("Celebrate Life" and "Thirst and Contentment", and one person spoke in-between for about 10-15 minutes.

At the end people rushed to the Information table were they got another video, audio tape or brochure, with or without translation, as well as cards with the internet addresses and our information line number. They also left their names and asked to be notified as soon as there is another event. We intend to go back there in about 2 weeks and do a follow up. The Magic works - big time….

Morning event at Community Centre

On the 4th of October 2002 at 11.00am, an introductory event was held at an Asian community centre (Shree Bharatiya Mandal) at the invitation of the centre organizer who looks after the elders group. Previously, on 3 separate occasions, videos had been shown to small groups at the centre and the organizer requested videos to be shown to the larger Friday group. The organizer announced the event and invitation cards were handed out.

The event began by showing scenes from bhajanamrit tapes but using music from CDs and audios. The

following bhajans were played: Hari bhajana bina suhkna.. [Hindi], Olakho andarwado re bhai.. [Gujarati] and Dekh tere Hi Man…[Hindi]. There was seating for 35 as this was normal attendance for Fridays. By 11.00 there were about 30 people in the hall in an atmosphere of silence and attention. People continued to arrive and were seated on extra chairs as needed. We showed 4 short videos: - Tripti, Pyas, Sandesh and Talash to enable people to at least one in full. By the end at 11.50, 73 people had seen the videos, of these 16 had seen them previously in August.

A number of people took the booklets in Gujarati, Within, Magnificent Simplicity, The Possibility and the audio, 'Jeevan aur Shanti' on one side and 'Learn to admire' in English on the reverse.

A few people requested videos, which will be provided by our mobile library. Several people thanked us personally for the morning event.

The organiser was surprised by the atmosphere and the attention given to the videos by the audience as he had been concerned about how he could ensure our need for silence, which we had requested. We told him we would be happy to repeat the event if the attendees request for another session.

Piran - Slovenia
Informal Hotel event
with instructor, Carol O'Connell

There was the second "young people initiative" party/meeting in Piran Slovenia last weekend. It was very helpful for me to see people, individuals of all walks of life, wanting, or already taking part in their own unique way, in the most beautiful thing in the world. We hope to be able to offer more possibilities to share and want to have similar meetings every 3 months at different places in Europe. The young people initiative will be called "Enthusiastic People Initiative", because this is what it is all about!

Adapted from a report by Gabriel S.

On Sunday a beautiful introductory event took place at the Grand Plaza Holiday Inn hotel in Bristol. Around 60 people attended - around half of which were guests! There were people from all walks of life, lots of young people, and a brilliant, informal atmosphere. Lots of wine was quaffed, snacks were munched, tea, coffee and cakes consumed, people chatted, and everyone enjoyed hearing Maharaji speak about life, breath and Self-Knowledge. Instructor Carol O'Connell was the MC and was amusing and informative. There was free material, including cassettes, and tprf booklets, including the Leaders magazines, to buy. All of the free stuff went and some of the other as well. Afterwards, several people wanted to know more about preparing for Knowledge! The event was enthusiastically supported by the local community, including Bath and elsewhere, both financially and in bringing guests. This was a fantastic start to the new propagation initiative in this area.

Stall at NEC Asian Trade Fair
"Mela 2002" - 2 days

The Mela 2002 at NEC Birmingham was the largest Asian trade show in the UK with over 700 exhibitors marketing a wide range of goods and services - there were also three stages, fashion, health &beauty, and an entertainment stage with celebrities from Bollywood and UK. Amongst all this mayhem and people selling, selling, selling, there was Stall 454 (4m X 2m) named "OASIS" promoting Maharaji's unique message.

A small group of people had decided to spread the good news of Self-Knowledge. Work began on how and where this should be done. Quotes were selected and put onto pictures - some were put into an A5 Hindi/English booklet with an introduction to Self Knowledge, and contact details on the back. A2 posters were also displayed on the stall. People could access the tprf website, and tprf materials in folders were available as well as A2 size copies of "Leaders" magazine and Gujarati "Possibility". The information desk

5: A Diary - some of the introductory initiatives in Europe - Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2002

had invitation cards to the Introductory video event next Sunday, in The Britannia Hotel, Wolverhampton. A TV set had DVD and VCR players put through amplifying system and the ARKON infra-red system. People could sit and listen to DVDs or Videos in English or Hindi through headsets, to cut out external noise.

Over 35,000 visitors passed through the three day period, Sunday being the busiest. 649 people took an interest in Maharaji's message, including some aspirants from different parts of the country. 17 people gave their contact details They want to follow it up and want to see and hear Maharaji in person and want invitations sent to them, when he next visits the UK. Twice daily, Bollywood film star Anil Kapoor would perform his film hits on stage and sign autographs. We also asked for his autograph but took the opportunity to give him "Sambhavna" (Hindi Possibility) and a card with Maharaji's quote and website addresses, saying it was a message from one heart to the other. On the last day we saw him waving that booklet and taking it with him.

At the end of the third day, an elderly Muslim person sat and watched Maharaji's video until the electricity was switched off. He wants to listen in Urdu. One elderly Sikh gentleman watched his video, looked through the Photo Album book and recognised Maharaji from 1971 - he had seen Maharaji when he first arrived in the West. He now doesn't want to miss another opportunity presented to him. A young person was so hooked by Maharaji's message that he sat for over 2 hours and watched all 6 titles on the DVD. At the end, other exhibitors asked for the posters with quotes. This is because we played "River of Breath" and other "Bhajan" CDs, an hour before the doors opened and every one setting up their stalls heard those wonderful lyrics and got touched.

Special thanks to Sham Mehta (London) for loan of DVDs and relative materials and Ramesh Raithatha, Pravin Patel and Ron Geaves for their help with PR issues and Peter Rossetti with TPRF Website set-up. Helen Caton (Lancaster), Sue Callender (Manchester) and Teresa Wooldridge (Manchester) for creating TPRF materials download folders.

village near Bordighera - Italy
7 guests Event in local
Book/Coffee shop

Last Saturday an Introductory event was held in the small village of Dolceacqua (Sweetwater) near Bordighera at the "Associazione Culturale" of the local Book/Coffee-shop. We invited about 20 people, 10 attended - 7 were new guests, 1 aspirant and 2 persons with Knowledge. I introduced the first part, presenting the video "A Simple Answer"(recorded from a recent broadcast), and giving a brief personal testimony about the contentment and benefit that Self-Knowledge continues to bring into my life. The video had a lot of success and people's comments were all very positive. At the end I invited everybody to a second video event on the following Friday and Marisa explained the ways to keep in touch referring to the info and materials displayed.

I must say that it has been really enjoyable! However I noticed that people's attention became distracted by the esoteric books on display and they may have missed the information table. More volunteers would be needed to give more personal care. We will be more aware about this for the next events….

Event at prestigious fitness club
- Holmes Place

Tonight we had a follow-up event at Holmes Place fitness club in Tel-Aviv, 50 people attended, 25 of whom were guests coming for the second time, the rest were people with Knowledge. After the event we gave out videos and written material, but mainly we promoted the Video Library and people were very inspired. We showed 2 very inspiring videos: "Fulfillment", and "Knowledge: To Know" separated by a few minutes expression from Franci. It was very beautiful and sweet. We hope to bring an Instructor and have another event in 2 weeks.

19 and 20 October 2002
Livorno - Italy 20 visitors
2 day mini-event in an
Art Gallery "Heart Art"

The event-exhibition Heart-Art in Livorno is now finished. It was an experimental introductory initiative for local painters and art amateurs. The one week of promotion we found inadequate, but 20 guests showed up during the 5 opening hours. As people arrived, they were welcomed the way it is usually done in an art exhibition, and they were given all the time and room they needed to look the paintings, savor them and talk about them.

Then people were invited to a presentation of the author in another room where Giustino was talking for approx. 3 minutes about his paintings, his interest in art, and about the impact Maharaji is having in his life. As Maharaji was introduced, a video was played (the first 10 minutes of "Feeling of Life". Anyone who was interested was invited to the introductory event the following Wednesday, and directed to the café for a buffet and to see the tprf materials and access the web-sites. Over two days we had 9 of these mini-video events, all of them beautiful, each one different, and special.

We are amazed by the joy and learning we experienced, we feel so privileged to be a part of the beautiful propagation adventure in our city and are looking forward to Wednesday. This experience has also showed us interesting aspects of the mini-event formula, the flexibility that they allow and the possibility to be able to reach, in various situations, many more people and invite them, if interested, to a future "normal" event. Adapted from a report by Anna A.

Adapted from a report by Giustino: - I had 2 beautiful, magic days. Using my paintings to start a discourse about Maharaji and Knowledge has been a dream for many years. Lately this became a reality. If I had been invited to exhibit at MOMA, (the New York Museum of Modern Art), instead of the Cultural Association Ensemble of Livorno, I would not have been so happy!

26 October 2002
Chester - UK 30 visitors
Open Day Exhibition

The exhibition was born out of the enthusiasm for a new approach to introducing people to Self-Knowledge and offered the public an informal environment to discover, in ways comfortable to themselves, the different ways to take the steps they wanted to. Follow-up information was simply a card with TO FIND OUT MORE… on the front, with follow-up, website and contact details. The format for the event evolved from observing and learning about other exhibitions and from involvement in Expo set-up. Planning involved identifying a suitable hall, confirming local support and identifying key people, but personnel was kept to a minimum to free up local people with knowledge to invite and accompany their guests, and ensure that the focus was propagation and not simply organising activities. Support was also offered by nearby communities. The whole event was put together in about 6-7 weeks, and was an encouraging example of what a few individuals can do when they join together.

Publicity materials were produced locally in informal language, also promoted as a 'good day out' in Chester, a fun thing to do at the weekend! A flier was mailed and e-mailed to the NW region, phone trees, personal calls to friends and announcements at events were also used. Peter Lee pointed out that propagation is the effort of each individual and that the exhibition was an exciting new initiative putting Chester 'on the map' as a main community. A new initiative was public advertising, putting leaflets in local post offices windows or notice boards, tourist information desks, cafes, barbers, Library, colleges - Some of us also visited the organisers of a local Mind, Body, Spirit festival who were so impressed by the atmosphere and content of the exhibition that they offered us a free 'slot' for the next one at the Theatr Clwyd, a local prestigious theatre &exhibition hall. We also advertised on the venue's notice board about 3 weeks before.

On the day of the event we had a billboard and an 'A-frame' sign on the street with a big arrow and TODAY in large letters. About 5 people attended the exhibition because of this.

The main exhibition had a central display of Maharaji's quotes and free gifts - a CD or tape and a tprf booklet. Also Discover For Yourself, an audio listening corner, the tprf website demo and website cards to take away, and some new sales materials (financed by local PWKS), including the Leaders Reprint and the two new Booklets "Within" and "Magnificent Simplicity". There was a video room with a few chairs and a rolling programme of videos, and a free refreshment area. There was a beautiful floral display, a guest book for comments, and follow-up leaflets in the foyer, with details of the Chester event on 9th November.

7: A Diary - some of the introductory initiatives in Europe - Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2002

Signage was kept to a minimum and guests were allowed to walk around freely, choosing whatever area they wanted to explore.

The video room was the most popular, some people staying for several videos (short) - a large screen was used. Chairs were only put out as needed, so that the room did not look formal with theatre style seating and people could walk in and out as they wished and to take a cup of tea in with them! Music was played in 5 minute interval between showings - partly to attract people into the room.

75% of the tprf booklets and all the free CDs were taken. All the Leaders Reprints sold. Approximately 30 invitations to the follow-up event were taken away, some by people with Knowledge to hand to friends.

We learned the following: Raising the level of local excitement &involvement in propagation is an ongoing process. Invite speakers popular with the community to encourage support. The exhibition was a powerful resource and experience for the people with Knowledge and supported their efforts; many guests were quite stunned by the atmosphere in the video room, and the beautiful article in Leaders magazine. For some it was a breakthrough to use the tprf website finding booklets easy to produce. Language should be simple and clear. Financial support can be pledged. Public advertising was effective and did not cause problems; however, it is wise to check that leaflets put up in public places (i.e. libraries) are actually on display a few days later. Return to 'drops' and replenish supplies. Research local events such as Mind, Body, Spirit events and approach organisers. This could be done over the long-term in a planned way, developing good relationships with local organisers &groups. However, controlling our own environment (i.e. not being part of a broader exhibition like a green festival or Mind, Body, Spirit festival) was helpful, enabling us to provide a very focused atmosphere. People felt very comfortable to invite their guests to the informal format of the exhibition.

27 October 2002, Amsterdam - Holland 36 new + 9 returning guests

Event at city centre Marriott Hotel

Amsterdam is awake and moving ! Thanks to the enthusiastic effort made by our "rejuvenated" team, we held a very successful event last night with 45 guests (36 for the first time) who gathered to watch the "Universal Quest" video along with 46 people with Knowledge in the city centre Marriott Hotel. Upon arrival every guest received a TPRF card with the beautiful quote and website address. Our format - music video "Beginning" - intro by MC - video - MC closing with "get back to the person who invited you for more info", worked really well. Afterwards the room was buzzing with interest, which ranged from "yes I am curious" to "how do I receive Knowledge."

Today we are following up with our guests, providing videos, info, giving invites for the next aspirant event on Thursday 31st October, or the next guest event on 25th November and where appropriate, encouraging guests to invite their friends to come along too. The high numbers of new guests amazed everyone, (last event 6 months ago = 2 guests) and reflects the new team's effort, echoes the upbeat pulsing throughout Europe and heralds the beginning of a very exciting time for those in Amsterdam.

Lugano - Switzerland
Introductions by a healer

I just wanted to share some beautiful news of Propagation, even if it is small - but with some help, it might increase incredibly rapidly. I work as a Healer in Switzerland and meet many people from all walks of life who are in search of help. Recently I got in touch with three people from Lugano (the Italian speaking area of Switzerland). All went to the first Introductory Event. Two went to the follow-up bringing 5 more people. Both also went to the next event (Aspirant) and brought again 5 new guests. From the beginning until now, I have given 14 Italian Intro, Learning More and Aspirant videos, with some booklets and brochures. I also sent a present of two audio tapes with included a small booklet with quotes from Maharaji.

One of these has now asked me for more Intro Material in Italian Language, because she wants to send them to all her friends for Christmas - she also said she would bring all her friends to the Introductory Event in January - she wants spread this beautiful News. She has a holistic Health Centre in Lugano where many people go in and out and has already placed the new Introductory Booklet on her information tables! She also has very many friends in Milan. So please, if any of you wants send her Introductory and follow up Material, do so. You can call me for her details. I will forward this message to all the Premies in

that area of Switzerland.

Update: This message has already produced very nice fruits. Someone from Italy read this message, felt inspired and took care to help. Just this evening this lady from Lugano expressed her gratitude. She asked me to tell all of you who are involved in helping Maharaji , very many thanks.

October-November 2002
Tel-Aviv - Israel 30 guests incl. returners60 + approx 100 guests
3 events in Tel Aviv
with Peter Dawson and Yoram Weiss

3 events took place recently in Tel-Aviv area: the first was the third follow-up in the fitness club Holmes Place north of Tel-Aviv with Instructor, Peter Dawson who answered some questions and showed 2 wonderful videos. Some 30 guests came, some for the first time others came for the 2nd and 3rd time. A group of about 10 people wished to prepare for Knowledge. The management offered their meeting room for that purpose. Secondly, an Introductory event with Yoram Weis took place yesterday in Tel-Aviv. Approx. 120 people were in the hall, 60 guests few aspirants and 50+ people with Knowledge. It was wonderful and blissful and many people were deeply touched. Next step: 2 follow-up events on Saturday and Sunday.

Thirdly, tonight we had an introductory event in Holmes Place south of Tel-Aviv. More than 100 people showed up, some left in the middle, many stayed, bought some material (video tapes, audio, brochures) and left their names to be notified when the next event is taking place. Next step: a follow-up event in approx. 2 weeks with the interested people.

Problems: We are severely suffering from shortage of staff. The rapidly growing number of events is putting a lot of pressure on a small group of people. We need to organize ourselves in a better way, be more efficient, have clear priorities, use common sense and consciousness and most importantly, enjoy.

… What a life.

A "birthday" party

This year I wanted to celebrate the day I received Knowledge (1973) with a lot of people, wanting to somehow show my Master that I still feel that receiving Knowledge is the best thing that ever happened to me. I contacted Peter Toft to ask if we could arrange a couple of intro-events to celebrate, and within the next couple of days all the practical arrangements fell into place.

The first event - 1st November - was really great. There were 42 people attending, including 12 guests.

The new leaflet "Preparing for Knowledge" was ready - and new brochures for the video library and sales. We had some videos and the blue booklet with quotes as gifts for the guests. There were also videos and

new booklets for sale. It was possible to buy beer and soft drinks in the room, too. The MC was good - before and after the video - giving the information needed. People really liked it, and the atmosphere was warm and good.

Then came the day for the next event - 22nd November. We were all really excited - we knew that the most important thing was to keep the good atmosphere, whatever happened. The set-up was the same as at the first. Brochures and invitations to future events in January were available at the information table.

And then it just happened! The number of attendees was the same as last time: 42. But this time 20 of them were guests. It was such a beautiful surprise. The video "The Peace Within" was shown - and it

somehow made the magic happen. People were touched and looked very happy. One of the guests who had been coming a couple of times before mentioned that he felt completely light in his head - and that was a very nice feeling.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday 9th and Saturday 16th November, we held two exhibition-style open days on the Isle of Wight, with the theme 'This is About You.' This was a combined venture with a lot of help from people in Southampton. A follow-up event was held on the 1st December. The Quay Arts Centre is a busy venue in the main town of Newport. We held our multi-media exhibition in the seminar room, adjacent to the central café/meeting area that is always buzzing, especially on a Saturday. We supplied furniture, plants and ornaments to provide a pleasant environment.

We used the bridge logo from the booklet 'This is About You' as part of our advertising, which consisted of local newspaper adverts, A4 posters/A5 flyers placed in shops, libraries, post offices and in the centre itself, individual invitations to this and the follow-up event. An exhibition of 7 boards was used to form a central 'walk-in' area. The boards displayed A2 sized quotations, juxtaposed with background information on Maharaji and Self-Knowledge (taken directly from The Possibility brochure), enlarged versions of the bridge logo and Maharaji's letter from the tprf website on the central board, and a photo from the Leaders magazine.

A computer and materials area was set up to the left of this central 'foyer'. Here one laptop showed "The Missing Piece" on video CD, interspersed with instrumental music. The second laptop (with an additional large monitor) was used for on-line access to websites. A materials area provided free items (TPRF booklets, 30 copies of 'This is About You' book, home-produced audio and video CDs, home-produced audio and video tapes. Some items were for sale at half the normal price: Discover For Yourself, Within and Magnificent Simplicity booklets. None of these sold but many of the free materials were taken. The second day we improved layout and signage, and placed more materials outside the room for people to browse.

A video screening area was set up to the right of the 'foyer,' where people could watch short or longer options, listening privately through headphones: At one end, a 6-minute video loop from the satellite broadcasts was run continuously. At the other end people could watch longer presentations and choose from numerous titles, including Thirst and Contentment (15 mins), Introduction to Knowledge (22 mins), The Possibility (5 mins). Simplicity (4 mins), The Simplicity of Enjoying Life (20 mins). Information was available to take from the materials table and at the exit - web addresses, library, DFY, local/national contact details, invitations to the follow-up event, brochures from the tprf website. There was also a visitor's book for people to comment if they wished, but only one did so - 'very interesting!'

On the first day, the exhibition attracted 33 new people, some of whom just peeped in; others read the boards and didn't venture any further. Eight people watched the 6-minute video loop and one lady went watched a further two videos - she said Maharaji's voice was 'mesmerising'. People appreciated the well-presented and free materials. Although it was hard work to do 2 successive Saturdays, it did give us the opportunity to refine and improve the set-up. 13 people attended on the second day, all of whom spent a while reading and absorbing the information. One particularly interested guest asked for materials in other languages, to put in the local prison library.

It was a wonderful experience to be involved in this project. It cost money, time and a lot of effort from the people involved but the end product was immaculate…..

Event at the Golem
with musicians, painters and artists

Beautiful intro event in Bologna!!! Tonight's event was successful and sweet. There were 9 people with Knowledge, 4 Aspirants and 17 new people! The Golem was the perfect place to get some nice people together. There were musicians, painters, general artists and at the end many people took the invitation for the Event with Peter Lee on the 28th Nov. At a certain point, 3 people left… and I said…it's OK …this is not for them… but after two seconds another 5 people came in!!! and enjoyed until the end. Somebody came just because they saw the posters on the walls around! I am very happy now because this showed me that what it takes is just some inspiration and sincere desire to do it and then things can happen everywhere, even in Bologna where Propagation was a little asleep for a very long time. Next will be better, I am sure. Adapted from a report by Corinna P.

Roma - Italy
All day exhibition at an alternative expo,
at the CRAL Poste

Today, Sunday Nov 10th in Roma, at the CRAL Poste on L.go Tevere Flaminio, there was a day (from 10.00 to 22.00) dedicated to alternative medicine and similar. It was organized with much care in a nice environment by Claudio Orsini, and this gave us the chance to present Self-Knowledge and display the big book of photographs of Maharaji with some selected excerpts. Many people came and took invitations for the introductory event on November 17th at the Ergife hotel. 16 people stopped to look, read and ask for more information.

This has been for us a really intense experience - It has been very beautiful and stimulating.

Event at the Business Palace,
Milan with aperitif

This afternoon at the Business Palace, 166 people, of which 82 for the first time listened, literally enchanted, to Maharaji in a resounding video: "The Thirst and the Breath." This introductory event was the result of a month of activities promoted by a large group of people with Knowledge from Milano and the surrounding area. The beginning, a month ago, was more than promising, with 107 premies attending the event of the Geneva video in a very joyful atmosphere. There was a large participation also at the meeting (2 weeks ago) with John McClean who shared with us the enthusiasm that Maharaji manifested to him about propagation in Europe.

Today with the following interesting and fresh format: a friendly welcome from two MCs, the video, an aperitif, and TPRF materials, literally taken like hot cakes and considerable donations. The door to Maharaji's message have been concretely opened ..and…boys….it feels really good!!! Next appointment, with our guests, is in 5 days for an event to know more.

"An Evening of Discovery"

Bar - Live Music - Video - Poetry

"An Evening of Discovery…including an introduction from a teacher of self-knowledge and more…" at The Enterprise Pub, London NW3. Last night London really broke the mould! From the beginning it looked like a great idea, the flyers that were produced were really cool, promising something special and it was a perfect evening! Justin Suckley, Karen Boardman and a team of entertainers really pushed the boat out into a land of discovery for many new people introducing them to Maharaji and his message - the feeling was rich and strong in his love - the message was loud and clear.

The Enterprise Pub is in Camden, one of the most diverse and eclectic areas of North London, near the famous Roundhouse that so many rock artists played years ago. The actual pub downstairs was fairly quiet for a Monday evening, filled with a number of 'Camdenites' enjoying a few drinks. Up a steep and narrow stairwell one entered a world of full of life, warmth and strong in feeling. The evening started around 7.30pm and was in full swing and packed by 8.30. The room held about 65 some people with Knowledge and their friends, some aspirants, and some just up from downstairs just to watch the evening's entertainment. Some young people had come from Brighton for the evening. Many people stood at the back of the room. The video screen was in the corner, and there was small table at the back displaying tprf cards, Discover For Yourself videos and free cassettes introducing Self Knowledge. The centre stage was ready with various height mikes.

Guests were promised a full evening with a variety of entertainment, including a futuristic video 'Tetra', and live music acts which were all perfectly individual, each heart singing to other open hearts. Poems from past masters were read, giving a deeper perspective. The highlight of the evening was the short compilation videos introducing Maharaji's message (with bytes from the recent European Tour), separated by some cool music. Each showing was about 20 mins long, and we were able to see him 2 or 3 times. The feeling was concentrated and no-one spoke a word. Then more songs from Jeff, Marcie, Jeffrey, Clea and Tim Hain and poetry readings from the works of Rumi - beautiful - and striking a chord inside everyone who was in the room and who couldn't help but be reminded of a possibility within.

11: A Diary - some of the introductory initiatives in Europe - Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2002

Contrary to misconceptions, it was very concentrated. Glances were met by an open sweetness and gratitude for what was being given. So natural to sit there with a beer, a G&T or smoking a cigarette listening to Maharaji. The respect was evident and conclusive. At 11.15 Tim and Clea were still singing - "higher and higher… ". That wonderful feeling has lasted all day and still lasts. Thank you to all who participated including Jim and Dave on the PA/mixing boards. Next 'Evening of Discovery' is on December 9th at the Enterprise, you'd be a fool to miss it!

First introductory event in Bologna

Yesterday night we had the first introductory event in Bologna after a very longtime. Even if we all are a little rusty, it went definitely well. Interested people attending: 15, people with Knowledge attending: 20. There was a short presentation by Marco Bravura, then the video "Fulfillment" new version (42 mins), to the delight of everybody. Also available was a collection of 4 selected excerpts from the TPRF site, cards with the calendar of the next events, and the broadcast schedule. The next introductory event will be on Thurs Nov 28th in the same venue, with instructor, Peter Lee.

Follow-up event

Tonight we had the follow-up to the last Sunday intro event - a sweet evening.

Our two MCs welcomed the new guests and "welcomed-back" those who had attended before. The video was "Knowledge: to Know" (40 mins), from the Sep 2000 Rome event. Afterwards guests were invited to attend the aspirant event on December 1st and informed about ways to keep in touch. The evening concluded with a sweet buffet, and crackers.

It is beautiful to witness a "contagion" that's happening for those who rarely invite guests who are now feeling they can invite with a spontaneity not known until today.

With the hope that this contagion invades the peninsula, we are preparing for the next small event for aspirants next Sunday, aware that people could attend from last Sunday who didn't come today.

Roma - Italy
Afternoon Open Door event

A special afternoon in Rome - the first introductory event of the "new era of propagation". Many people here in Rome wanted to try a different way to present Maharaji's message.

From 15.00 to 19.30 people had an opportunity visit an exhibition of various materials, to receive a complimentary gift of selected excerpts from the tprf site, to view the tprf website, to read posters on learning more about Maharaji and Knowledge. Some tables near the "refreshment" area, offered the possibility to discuss what was just seen or read, perhaps sipping a coffee. In another room videos (30 minutes approx.) were shown.

The atmosphere was relaxed and focused and people had the choice to be either free or guided. Some new people stayed there all afternoon, watching videos, reading and deepening their understanding of the materials that were available there…and they seemed to enjoy a lot. We'll do it again….

Overall it was an enjoyable day for all who participated and an exciting way of Introducing Maharaji and Self-Knowledge. The team had done some research prior to the day and chose this day as there was another activity (Clothes Sale) in the venue - this paid off as many people came into our hall to browse. Intro event at 4**** city centre hotel

This was our second successful Introductory event in Amsterdam - on a wet &rainy evening at a city centre 4 star hotel. With careful preparations, the newly formed Event team created a very warm and welcoming environment for our guests, which got the evening off to a great start. By 20.30 the buoyant and chatty audience had grown to 64 people!! We used a traditional format. Yes it still works !!!

An MC welcomed and introduced and the evening, the "Remember" video was shown and then the MC closed by inviting everyone to the Aspirant event this coming Saturday (tailored to accommodate these new guests and Aspirants). In total the event lasted just under one hour.

The event was full of love, a truly beautiful evening, quite simply an honor to be there and witness hearts opening to him.

To be a part of this is real fun! We also begin to see the value of our weekly team building evenings, shown by the harmonious way we all participated to create such a rich event and the number of guests attending.

With inspiration in our hearts we continue to build momentum with a Follow-up event on Saturday. Exciting times in Amsterdam !!

This evening we have had our first intro event in Aosta. Great emotion at the moment when people were

arriving and feeling of "HELP!!! The great moment is arrived…"

Video: the brand new Barbican-London 2002. 5 guests, 6 people with Knowledge. The guests said that all

of them had connected with the sites named on the invitation card.

At the end of the video two people who recently received Knowledge have made short "expressions".

Intro event with Peter Lee

This is the third intro event in November in Bologna, with the participation of Instructor Peter Lee who spoke for 20 mins after a short 7 min video (A Simple Request). Another 30-35 min video (The Missing Piece) was followed by local announcements. 18 new and returning guests attended with 20 people with Knowledge. Great general satisfaction, high (to the stars) spirits!

One of the young guests came because she picked up an invitation card somewhere (on the floor?), and unexpectedly was free to come. This also happened to her yesterday night, when despite other commitments, she was able to come. During that afternoon she had something to do with jig-saws, and when the video talked about the missing piece of a puzzle…too magic! She said she is absolutely sure that this is the right road.

Now let's hope, we need to organize an aspirant event on Dec 16th.

I am also very happy how our team-work is going on. After many years we stopped arguing, all of us are involved under all aspects. Harmony and comprehension also bring results. Will it last?

8 November, 11 and 19 December Belfast
2 - Ireland
Event at An Culturlann
an Irish language cultural centre

"Belfast is buzzing - and with more than just Christmas shoppers! An Culturlann, an Irish language cultural centre at the foot of the Falls Road in Belfast, was the scene for a new introductory initiative set up by local people who have received the gift of Self-Knowledge. The event featured a screening of an introductory event given by Maharaji in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Maharaji's clarity, humour and inspiration was truly uplifting, and the video was very warmly received. Many of the people who were seeing Maharaji for the first time had clearly enjoyed the occasion - lots of smiling faces! A screening of "The Seed", helped to clarify the ongoing process of listening as being the best way forward. Due to the very positive response to the introductory event, the organisers have been prevailed upon to "keep them coming" - a second introductory event is scheduled there for the 19th December, at 8.00pm. We hope to see even more new faces - and smiles -at this event.

The Holiday Inn in Belfast's city centre - a relatively new venue for Introductory and People With Knowledge events. It boasts attractive suites and provides a quality environment for the presentation of Maharaji's message. On the 11th of December we presented another Introductory Event at the Holiday Inn, using The Barbican video. Several guests were present. A coffee break and range of "Finding Out More" materials was provided. Together with this, the great news that Maharaji would be in England in June and the beauty of Maharaji's message itself, a wonderful evening was enjoyed. People with Knowledge are finding a new commitment to bring this lovely message to those who are interested. And lately, it seems that more and more people are.

Update: The second intro event in An Culturlann on the 19th December brought more new guests to another beautiful event and more requests for future events at this venue.

Family event with aperitifs and appetizers
at Circolo Ensemble (before intro event)

On the day of the Intro event in Livorno, at the Circolo Ensemble, at noon, there was an event for my family (7 people) with videos, 3 tables with aperitifs and appetizers.

Some of them already knew something about Knowledge, some not. I invited them saying that it was my desire to present them, in a simple and clear way, the passion I have, and for this reason I had organized an aperitif with video.

In the same venue where the main intro event was going to happen later on in the afternoon, I set up three tables with chairs and after a drink together, I showed the videos.

What Maharaji was saying was followed with attention and at the end we talked between us. One of my brothers in law liked very much Maharaji and the others asked for more information.

I'm very happy that finally, after years, I've been able to let them know about this possibility in a clear way

from Maharaji's voice. I thought that maybe this could be an idea also for others that are in a similar situation.

Introductory event with live music
at the Circolo Culturale Ensemble

Total attendance was 63, 32 were guests (7-8 not new faces, the others were coming for the first time). There were people standing (no more seats), the venue is becoming too small! The event had been advertised also with young people and in fact there were many of them amongst the guests.

Luciano played sweet ambiance music while people entered, which created a relaxed and concentrated atmosphere. Then Corinna and Anna introduced the evening "in duet", and the beautiful video of the Barbican public event was shown. At the end, still "in duet" information was given on how to keep in touch and learn more, and the attendees were invited to visit the information area (follow-up event invitation cards, 2 new intro booklets, selected TPRF excerpts, videos to borrow, the December satellite calendar, a portable computer to visit the websites, the Leaders magazine in vision) and to return after 15 min to hear some musical expressions.

The nearby cafe was open, and many chatted with a drink. Then Luciano (piano), Corinna (voice), Maila (voice), Tito (guitar and voice) and Gian (guitar) gave us some really suggestive artistic-human moments. It has been a beautiful evening.

The enthusiasm and working as a team are starting to produce fruits. Between us there is a nice feeling of excitement but also of pleasant surprise and sort of incredulity in front of what we see happening.

It really works!!!

Afternoon Open Door Event
in Adult Education Centre

6 weeks of publicity for this Open Door Event included e-mailing and telephoning local people with Knowledge. Around 80 leaflets were distributed at prior events in Leicester, plus 40 on the day by volunteers. Posters were also displayed in 6 public places one week before the event. Outside the venue an A-board, borrowed from the venue, had posters on display from 10 am and signs were displayed in the building and close to the venue to attract passers by.

Inside, 18 volunteers created a beautiful display of information (printed and on computer), and materials (free and for sale). In another part of the same room, introductory videos of Maharaji could be watched using headphones for audio. New materials developed locally for propagation were tried out for the first time which attracted the attention of attendees including new people. Follow up materials were available and leaflets for a follow up event in Leicester were near the exit.

Total attendance was 45, which included 16 new visitors (8 watched videos, 2 bought Discover For Yourself video packs), 18 helpers, 11 visiting people with Knowledge. 7 people took DFY contact cards, 6 took local event schedules, 17 took follow up invites, 2 took Library by post information, 1 took home viewing information, 3 took TPRF downloaded excerpt books, and 2 took audio cassettes. The hall staff were cooperative, helpful and impressed by volunteers efforts in set-up and take down.

Event for the Indian community
in a new Indian Day Centre

Paramjit Sohl, from Birmingham has been exploring ways to present Maharaji and Knowledge to the Indian communities. In November, he met with Michele Kusnierek who gives keep fit classes at a new Indian Day Centre in the predominantly Indian area of Bristol, to plan an event there on a busy visiting day.

The manager of the centre watched a video, gave his approval, and the event was scheduled for Tuesday 4th December at lunchtime. However on Monday, the manager was on holiday so the event was postponed. Paramjit and Rajesh Patel came all the way from Burnley to check the venue and talk to the

15: A Diary - some of the introductory initiatives in Europe - Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2002

people there, being introduced by Michele. Everyone was warm and welcoming and invited all of us to stay for dinner. It also transpired that there was a vacant slot since one of the visiting teachers had called in sick - it was suggested that the introductory video event should fill the slot. The in-house television and video was used to show the selection of Hindi videos brought by Paramjit and Rajesh - Darpan ("Mirror" 22 mins) was shown before lunch. Afterwards Paramjit said a few words in Hindi. I didn't understand a word but I was touched by the occasion and the feeling in the room. One woman remarked that she had seen Maharaji in 1972 when he was a boy. The group at the centre included Punjabi's, Hindu's and Muslims, and all without exception felt comfortable watching Maharaji with most expressing their appreciation.

After an exquisitely prepared simple Indian lunch, the people from the centre regrouped to watch more videos - "Introducing Maharaji' (8 min) and "Ahmedabad" (31 min) was shown. People arriving for a 2pm meeting were also invited in to watch and were still sitting there 15 minutes afterwards. Many people expressed that they were very, very happy with the event and invited Paramjit back in early January to do another event at the centre.

This strategy of presenting Maharaji and Knowledge to groups in their own environment is very promising and engages the community organisers in the 'project'.

Last year with the help of Graham Ingram we began a similar project to present Knowledge to the West Indian Community in Bristol. This may be resurrected again soon.

A presentation of live music, videos and poetry
in a popular bar called the 'Barfly'

"An Evening of Discovery" - giving people an opportunity to hear about Maharaji's message in an informal environment. Candles, dimmed lights and silver tinsel provided atmosphere and ambiance to the room above the main bar. At the back of the room the mantelpiece over the fireplace was filled with complimentary tapes, tprf cards, Within and Magnificent books, follow-up information and invites for the follow-up event at Charlotte St. Soho, Central London on Dec 17th at 7.00pm. Karen Boardman was ready to answer any questions. Guests, aspirants and people with knowledge filled the room sitting at tables, seats and bar stools with drinks from the bar.

Following a warm welcome and introduction, and using microphones, the evening consisted of carefully selected musical (included piano/organ, guitar solos and singing) and poetry presentations about love, appreciation and thirst. There was also an animated, amusing &futuristic cartoon/video. All were designed to bring a simple message home to each heart.

Using two short video bytes masterfully crafted by Dave Mackie (10 min from Lisbon 2001, and 12 min from the Barbican), Maharaji reminded why we are here and to appreciate this breath.

There must have been over 100 people with about 60:40 ratio of guests to people with knowledge.

People had traveled far to be there to support this wonderful express channel to thirsty hearts.

One young man who was super concentrated, said he saw it advertised and just turned up, he had never heard of Maharaji before!

By popular demand the next event is: Monday 20th January - 7.30pm.

Venue in festive setting with buffet break
and complimentary materials.

This afternoon we gave 30 people the chance to hear Maharaji in a very festive setting, 24 of whom had come for the first time.

The first part was an introduction to the message, with a video, "Inner Peace" (1 hour), taken from a satellite broadcast consisting of several extracts from recent presentation events which Maharaji held this summer.

Followed by a buffet break with complimentary materials, videos and audio cassettes arranged in a basket with two pretty reindeer at the top. Also tprf printed materials.

The second part was for finding out more. A short video was followed by information on learning more how to start the preparation process.

We ended with the video "About happiness" (20 mins), and a 'Happy Christmas' slide at the end.

It was a real challenge getting ready for the event in time, with Christmas so near. But it was a great

English Language Evening Class presentation

I gave myself a truly special fun evening. I have been having English lessons (conversation and listening) every Thursday for a few months in a small centre in Brianza, near Milan, where the teacher proposes a different subject for discussion (cooking, cinema, travel etc.), always preceded by a video on the subject. This afternoon the teacher let me show the first part of an introductory video ("Within Us" to 7 people, who were amazed by and interested in the subject I proposed: Inner Peace. After my brief presentation of Maharaji and his message my fellow-pupils greatly enjoyed the pictures and quotes that flowed through the first part of the video. The quotes provided great food for reflection on inner contentment and the possibility of finding sincere, heartfelt joy.

The teacher was pleasantly touched and suggested it for homework during the Christmas break. My fellow-pupils and teacher, requested the second part of the video to be shown at the next lesson on Thursday 9th January. I also gave the teacher a copy of 'Leaders' magazine in English. Maybe a little spark of hope came into someone's life today.

private party with music, videos and bar.

Before the event we were apprehensive about presenting Maharaji's message in a casual way, in a pub with drinks, but the result was very beautiful. People talked in a very calm, relaxed atmosphere and felt comfortable listening to very well selected music throughout the evening. After about an hour we turned the music and lights down and showed three perfectly selected videos. People were very concentrated with absolute silence. It was really beautiful. Afterwards, we invited them to leave their e-mail if they wished to be informed again.

Response - guests were delighted and asked for more videos and a follow-up party. They felt excited about inviting their own friends and stayed talking to each other a good while. Total attendance was 30 people, 14 out of them guests. About 7 people left their personal details to be contacted, there were couples most of them, i.e. 14 people. We've planned to hold another event like this next month.

Self-Knowledge Exhibition in small tent
in Sunday market in Santa Cruz - (2 Sundays)

We provided a variety of TPRF booklets, Intro audio tapes &CD´s. and more from tprf website, and prepared a CD with 5 different short intro´s. that people could choose after reading the different subjects. It was pure Magic for all of us. We gave out pamphlets announcing the "EXPO", told people about Maharaji and Knowledge - good to see the response of the people.

The first Sunday 20 people showed up, 10 of them were already interested and took materials with them. We added a "Self-Knowledge EXPO" sign and gave out around 350 pamphlets announcing the EXPO, although we felt that people were more comfortable to approach the tent. Around 30 new visitors showed up in that day and looked through the materials, took some with them and many of them showed an interest the upcoming intro events. They left telephone numbers, and even insisted in paying for the materials. Another thing to add to our EXPO: a donation box.

Two of the people that showed up were from Argentina. They were listening through cable TV to Maharaji in their country. They were asking where they could listen in Tenerife when they saw the EXPO. They took materials with them… beautiful. We felt totally in synch with Maharaji´s proposal for propagation.
