Don't really remember what decade it was. I know there were only a few aspirants, I remember his reaction to the meal I cooked for him, I can remember being shown by a neighbour how to make these gorgeous Bali flowers - you take a fern stem you have stripped the leaves off and thread multiple flowers onto the stem - so colourful. Doesn't last long of course but long enough for the three or four aspirants to get their eyes pressed.
I think probably if you could see an accurate graph of the figures the peak time people joined the cult in numbers would be 73 - 75 and then the fall off was pretty rapid and by the 80's we had a few groomed aspirants and that was it.
I remember way back there was this complaint that premies couldn't be trusted to talk about Knowledge - narcissists are famous for playing pass the blame. (What a dysfunctional dynamic being a premie was!) I think really, it was probably just a fashion thing, and 'Maharaji' had had his time in the sun.
Maybe the discouragement of talking about Knowledge to your friends had something to do with the dramatic drop in numbers - not everyone is going to oblige and go to the satsang hall to hear about it.
Peace is not about meditation, is it.
