Despite making going to events a key ambition, spending all my time and money on getting there, sometimes hitchhiking for weeks, I often fell asleep during his speeches, and even when I stayed awake, I'd struggle to remember what he said. I did that for 3-4 years. There were sleeping pills ground into the blancmange. I got far more from the travelling than the being there. |
