I like that phrase 'touch the grass'.  Kinda sums it up for me.  I have my studio in my garage and park my car round the side so there was this expanse of concrete in front of the house that was empty and then I was getting very fed up with some sort of mite that was attacking my Jalapeño chillies and thought I will try growing them in the middle of the concrete and see if that helps, I got a bumper crop so I have a stockpile of sweet chilli sauce and omg, the area is filling up with flowers and tomatoes now going well.  I love it.  I didn't like the empty concrete, I was just trying to be sensible and now it's full of colour and interest.  Now I'm thinking, it wouldn't take much to encourage the dune grass to spread over the concrete, would it...
