To me it is blinkered to adhere to one side - like saying you can only use one hand.  Pick one.  How can anyone hope for sensible decisions or policies when you can only use your left hand or your right hand but not both.

But equally there is history and it is littered with the corpses of our forebears that tell a story of their own.  It touches me that when we joined a cult we had the courage to step out of their shadows and trust each other.  It's not surprising the conversation gets robust in the aftermath.
