He definitely played the wrong cards. But I guess that is because he craved mainstream acceptance. Of course he never got that either, so he basically has just become, yeah a milquetoast.

But maybe the other aspect of this is that he really just isn't that interesting. Some of those other guys, like Rajneesh, regardless how warped they and their organizations were, were/are pretty damn charismatic. Without the extremely controlled pomp and circumstance surrounding him, Rawat is basically pretty boring and superficial.

It has been a really long time, but I can still remember that what drew me to the cult were other people, like mahatmas. Seeing Rawat for the first time was not a positive experience for me. I was a big turnoff. But I stupidly persevered anyway. I guess other people had a different perception of Rawat though. Can't say I really get it. Anytime I have shown a video of Rawat to anyone outside of the cult, they basically just laughed at him. The same thing when I once made the big mistake, after ashram times, to bring some friends to an event. They just took the piss out of him afterward and I was completely embarrassed. I think that was the last time I mentioned Rawat to anyone for decades.
