Great reply and great post once again rgj. I would love to continue a dialog as the days unfold. I did read an interesting book recently, which approaches much of this entangled subject from another perspective altogether (leaving most of spirituality in the dust imo). "The Cosmic Serpent, DNA and the Origins of Knowledge" by Jeremy Narby. Or another interesting read "Food of the Gods" by Terrence Mckenna.

By the way at one time I truly revered Yogananda as he appeared incorruptible, but going back and re-reading the text just made my head swim with all his flowery language. Same thing with Castaneda, when I re-read Tales Of Power, I was struck by what a complete ditz and wimp he sounded like.

As far as the lifers go, I could care less what they do or where they end up. I am reminded of a great episode of the Rockford Files. James Garner was always one of my heroes. In this particular story-line, Rockford spends a huge amount of time trying to salvage a young woman from the grips of a (Christian) religious cult, only to succeed temporarily...and then watch her fall prey to another (Eastern) one. Makes you wonder.

More later and thanks !
